There is so much excitement when waiting for a new baby. Planning the nursery and shopping for diapers and itty bitty baby clothes. Part of the excitement I love to experience with expectant families is the Maternity Session. Pregnancy is such a miracle to be embraced. Babies are a blessing and to be celebrated. Documenting this short time in our lives in the way of photography is an investment that increases in (sentimental) value. There's only a few other things in life that INCREASE with value over time. One day when baby is grown, they would love to have photographs of their Mother carrying them in the womb. I have flipped through my own Mother's photo album with the images of her pregnant. She was such a cute pregnant Mamma.
One of the perks I offer to my Maternity clients is the use of my designer Maternity gowns. They are designed to stretch over the petite baby bumps to the more voluptuous expecting Mothers. My collection of maternity gowns is growing as I take on more maternity clients. Jennifer is an oh so beautiful expectant Mother. She is 33 weeks pregnant. We consulted about her ideas for location and what to wear for her session prior to her session date. She mentioned she liked the look of a tall grassy field and sunlight (things I like too). Based on her suggestions, we went for the Rustic - Glam - Organic feel for her session for both the location and wardrobe. Both of the gowns shown (the Marilyn in white, and the Mocha gown) are in my collection modeled by Jennifer. They are available to use for my Maternity clients. Jennifer brought along her own Mamma to help during the session. It was a joy working with them both and fun too.
Jennifer is expecting her first baby ( a girl ) in about 6 weeks. I share in the excitement to see what she will look like... I'm excited to meet and photograph newborn baby girl soon.

Welcome to the studio
I am frequently asked questions about an upcoming Newborn session:
What is a newborn session like?
What if my baby poops on your props?
What do we need to bring?
Can we be in the room when you are photographing our baby?
Do you have any props or baby clothing we can use?
I am here to answer all of your questions! All phone consultations are complementary and are designed for the client to "get to know me" before we meet in person. Chances are that you interviewed your wedding photographer before the big day right? Before we meet, I'd like to hear about your expectant baby, your pregnancy, how you and your significant other met, your style, and more. Each newborn session is unique and custom made for you and your new family.
This studio has been a true labor of LOVE for me and my handy-man husband. After 16 years of photographing and dreaming about this space it is finally a reality. It is a peaceful, warm, and welcoming place where new families can be comfortable during their sweet baby's newborn session. Families have access to the collection of vintage and new props, luxurious beanbag posing fabrics, newborn prop clothing, bonnets, and custom made tie-backs (baby girl "hair accessories"). I believe a newborn session is an event to be celebrated. All newborn clients are treated like they are having their own baby shower with complementary brunch, cookies, refreshments, and gifts. Thank you to all of the families that have allowed me to step into your life and photograph your new baby.
What is a newborn session like?
It is best to start planning the newborn session a couple of months before baby's estimated due date (EDD). (Don't worry if you are late in the game and baby is newly born because I can possibly schedule a newborn last minute and still plan a beautiful custom session) . A couple months ahead we will have a phone consult and photograph the maternity session or simply begin to plan the newborn session, After the consultation to discuss our ideas, style, and session flow... we wait for the arrival of your baby (or babies) and then officially schedule the session date as soon as baby is born. To attain the best possible date for your family, I ask parents to text me as soon as baby arrives or if there is a scheduled induction or c-section date planned. We would schedule the date when parents are still in the hospital. After everyone is home and rested we can finalize the details of the session by phone. Newborn sessions are best between the ages of 5 to 15 days old. This is a general time range and takes into consideration the feeding pattern, sleepiness of the baby, and the new "out of the womb" flexibility of each baby. I will of course accommodate an older newborn and have experience with posing babies of all ages.
Newborn sessions take place on select weekdays beginning at 10:00 am and must end by 1:30 pm. This allows us plenty of time for a relaxed and comfortable baby-led session. Based on the session consult, I will have chosen props, clean luxury beanbag posing fabrics, and clean newborn prop clothing prepared to complement your style and colors of your session as we had discussed. Upon arrival, baby should be full of milk and ready to begin with the parent / family poses. After parent / family posing, we will photograph baby in one or two props of your selection. After prop posing we will photograph the last part of the session on the posing beanbag. You and I will together select the fabrics to complement the colors and tones of the session. At any time during the session, if baby needs to feed or be diapered, then we pause to feed/clean baby.
This is the assortment of luxury beanbag posing fabrics. All are pre-washed in sensitive skin FRAGRANCE FREE detergent before it touches your baby. Available in a range of colors, patterns, and textures to complement the unique and beautiful look of your baby.
Prop collection is for parents to select according to their personal style ranging from antique, rustic, bohemian, glam, masculine, feminine, country, natural, organic, shabby... All are chosen by me for safety and to the size of a newborn baby. When posing in a prop, I always have a professional baby safety assistant with me to be safety minded for your precious baby.
Parent and family seamless backdrop photography area. There are three color options available.
Selection of soft wraps and stuffers. This wall is also a popular option for a backdrop to the cake smash one year session. My flooring is cake smash friendly and wipes clean.
A small sample of headbands (tiebacks) for newborn girls and sitter sessions.
A view of the posing beanbag to the left, designer newborn prop clothing selections for girls and boys, parent seating area (parents experience the entire session as they relax in the comfort of the studio), snack area with cold beverages in the fridge.
Hello, this is me, Debby Ditta showing some behind the scenes of me doing what I love to do... photograph newborn babies. This has been an over 20 years journey adventure for me and I am so blessed to be doing what I love as a career. In 2001, I began very humbly photographing babies in my kitchen (yes, I said kitchen). I would push my dining table and chairs out of the way to use my amazing window light. I photographed newborns indoors with natural light and families/children out on location. I did the best with what I had. As my own family grew and had babies of my own, I would travel to clients' homes for their newborn sessions. With hours of preparation before and after each session, it literally felt like I was moving a studio every single time I had a session. I loaded up my SUV with backdrops, props, equipment and not to mention my own babies car seats. There had to be another way. I did this for TEN YEARS. After our third baby was born, we were busting out the seams of our first little house and moved into our now home. I had set up a very pretty (but tiny) studio room with beautiful natural light and an oh so gorgeous antique Italian crystal chandelier. I welcomed about 75 newborns in the approximate 150 square foot space. With the growth of my business, the studio quickly took over the front room, hallway, living room, etc. My husband loved our house being taken over with newborn props (wink, wink). It was about time to grow again. I'm currently in the dreamy space pictured above and I thank the Lord every time I step foot in the space. That space has been well prayed over and blessed. I hope that every family that enters my door is welcomed and feels the love put into the space.
Whatever you do… work at it with all your heart
as if working for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23
