KiKi Valentine at 9 months old Baby Bee

This is Kiki's third session with me as a Baby Bee.  I'm in denial that her next session will be her one year cake smash.  We are about to celebrate Valentine's Day and it's special this year because it will be Kiki's first V day.

The ivory dress she is wearing was her Grandmother's as a baby.  How sweet!  She looks stunning in the handmade dress.

I'm in LOVE with the image above!  Long lashes and side swept baby hair.

No, it's not her birthday yet... these are promo shots for my etsy store.  I make one year cake smash birthday prop hats for the one year session.  www.etsy.com/shop/boutiquebabybutton . She will be my newest model :)

Valentine photo prop FAIL :)

A step back in time... feeling nostalgic today

As I'm editing several newborns this week, it's got me thinking about my own babies.  Back in the day when I had my first and second child, I was a film shooter.  The negatives from their newborn sessions are stored in a box somewhere in the closet... you know, a safe spot.  When my most recent baby arrived (a girl this time) I was digital and have easy access to the files.  It's so convenient to look at them any time and think back on how little she (and the boys ) were a few years ago.

Lovie Punkin is 3 years old now.  She was 6 days old at the time I took these images .  Her big brothers still absolutely adore her.

It's also got me thinking of how truly important newborn photography is to me.  My child will never ever be that little again.  Their tiny little body will never be curled up on my chest... fuzzy backs, baby smell, little feet... it's all changed now.  Without pictures, I couldn't pull out of my mind how they looked back then.  They are so big now.  Okay, now I'm tearing up.

Fast forward to 3 years and look at her now... my 3 year old going on 20.

Benjamin at 5 days old... the newest Baby Bee

Ok yall... this only happens when the sun and moon are perfectly aligned... every fifty years... This newborn slept the entire session!  Just kidding about the sun and moon stuff, but seriously Benjamin was an exceptional baby for his newborn session!  Magic milk or something :)

For the session: To coordinate with his room (farm, animals, and barns) and neutral color theme, we stayed with browns, neutrals and a little red.  Being close to Valentines, we went for a boyish little Valentine with hotwheels.  Mommy brought the chalkboard with "5 days old" written on it... the chalkboard was used at their wedding, how sweet! The football was perfect!  I'd love one in my prop collection... it was made new to look antique.

Congratulations to Daddy and Mommy on your beautiful baby boy.  Can't wait to see Benjamin soon for his next session.
