Liam's Newborn Session by Tomball Texas Photographer Debby Ditta Photography

Meet Christmas Eve baby Liam.  The week of his session, the temperatures in Houston dropped from our usual 75 degree winter to a blustery 24 degree day.  He was all warm and cozy in the baby studio with the comforting heat going.  There's a saying that I hear alot from my fellow Texans " If you don't like the weather in Texas... wait till tomorrow and it will be different again".  So true, because it is back to 75 degrees today and we have the AC running.

Liam's Mother contacted me after finding me on Google (thanks Google!).  She was about 7 months pregnant at the time we began our planning of the Maternity and Newborn Sessions.  Liam is their first baby and oh... he is a sweetie pie.  Other than needing to take a little break for his two ounce lunch, he was a puddle of perfect baby sleepy goodness.  His hair is the softest of locks like a bunny rabbit.  He is the perfect mix of his Mother and Father.

His room is decorated in browns and greens jungle theme.  We went with those colors for his newborn session styling.  Since he is a Christmas Eve baby, we incorporated in a little plaid to complement the greens and browns along with a little green Christmas garland.

There are a couple of sentimental pieces we added to the session that his parents brought along to be photographed.  Above is a Kente Cloth from Africa. Below is a blanket made by his Grandmother... she is very talented!  His parents chose the wicker moon prop from off the prop shelf and I think it shows just how tiny Liam is.

Liam's Daddy had a special request to photograph him in this bow tie.  How cute is this?!  My idea is to photograph him in the tie again in a year at the one year session to show how much he's grown into it.  Bow tie cake smash session next December!

Before Liam arrived, we met up for Lisa's Maternity session.  Here is a reminder of how cute Lisa is as a pregnant Mother.

Nolan's Newborn Baby Session by Tomball TX Photographer Debby Ditta Photography

Christmas baby Nolan.  The day of his session he was 9 days old.  Nolan is a part of our family... he is our newest cousin.  When my husband and I started dating (back in 1998) is when I met Nolan's Mommy, Tina.  I knew she would one day make such a wonderful mother and I am so happy for her!  She and David are so in love with their baby boy and is such a blessing to the family.

With a name like Nolan... we think of baseball right?  With a Christmas season baby... we think plaid, red, cozy knits, and hot chocolate right?   When planning the session, I combined the two themes by gathered baseballs, plaids, the red striped antique washbowl, a 75 year old antique Christmas Paper town (a family heirloom of Nolan's Great-Great-Grandmother, that happens to be my husband Grandma's ...and I looooove it!), Magnolia Market's antique wooden crate (yes, I use this a LOT), and the softest Mocha backdrop I have.  And there you go... baseball and Christmas theme newborn session.

Isn't she the prettiest, glowing new Mommy you've ever seen?

For such a short time, Nolan fits so itty bitty in his Daddy's arms.  He will be as tall as Daddy one day.

This vintage Christmas paper town set was from Nolan's Great-Great-Grandmother's collection She had great style in Christmas decor!

Only about a week ago, Nolan's home was inside his Mother's tummy Now he lives in his parents' arms.

The family of two grew into a family of three.  Congratulations David and Tina on your newest blessing!  Thank you for having me as your newborn photographer.

Ben's Newborn Session by Houston Texas Newborn Photographer Debby Ditta Photography

When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?  This is a question often asked by expectant parents.  I recently heard from a Mother that literally just tested positive on the stick...hasn't even told her husband yet... and texted me with the good news.  I am thrilled that she values newborn photography so much and expressed her excitement with me.  She made me feel like a part of her family.  Then there are Mothers that are due the next day and are worried that it may be too late to schedule a session.  There's good news for last minute kinda gals... sometimes I can schedule a last minute newborn.  I reserve a couple days for newborn babies each week, since they arrive on their own schedule most of the time... if there were no babies born in a certain week then I may be able to accommodate a last minute scheduling.  A client can still have a unique and custom boutique experience with short notice and last minute planning.

Take for instance beautiful newborn baby boy Ben.  His parents quickly found me last minute through a referral... from another sweet client during their Christmas Session.  Ben's mother notified me on her due date ... still very, very pregnant...and I was so happy to have the time available to schedule baby Ben.  We still had time to plan her style and discuss the colors she likes for the session.  We still had time to plan the parent clothing options for the family portion of the session.  Once baby Ben was born, she simply texted me from the hospital and we scheduled the actual newborn session date.  When everyone was home from the hospital we finalized all the details of the session by phone and talked about what to bring, how to prepare baby for the best and most comfortable newborn session possible :)

Baby Ben was a dreamy baby for his session.  He spent most of the time asleep and when he was awake, he was still so content.  Most of the time when a newborn is awake, they flail their arms and startle themselves (a natural newborn reflex).  Ben was completely comfortable and warm on the soft posing beanbag... he was so precious.

I love newborn peeling feet!  It is something that only lasts for a short while when they are fresh and new.

So, in conclusion, it is best to pre-schedule your newborn session a few months in advance, somewhere around the 20 week ultrasound is best.  Although, scheduling 9 months in advance is fine too.  I would simply add your expected due date (EDD) to the calendar and be in touch with you over the pregnancy.   We can even schedule a Maternity Session to remember this special time in your life  (I have a special Bump and Baby Package for that).  There is  limited availability during the weekdays to schedule newborn sessions and if there is a baby boom, I may not be able to schedule a last minute newborn session, so please contact me as soon as possible to start planning your custom boutique newborn session.

A big congratulations to the H family on your newest blessing!  Thank you for having me as your newborn photographer.
