Baby Story's One year Studio Session by Professional Baby Photographer Debby Ditta of Houston Texas

Baby Story turned the big ONE year old and with the summer heat up in the 100 degrees in Houston... we decided to host his session in the comfort of the Studio (with Air Conditioning). The beginning of the session was held in the rock garden. Momma wasn't even planning on having him wear this outfit, but I thought it complemented the colors of the succulent pot and we went for it.

Back in the studio, we put Story in the blue bowl that he was photographed as a newborn baby. These days, he's busting out of it. Only 365 days (abouts) between these images and see how much has changed over baby's first year? A little side note... the roll of blue measuring tape Story is holding in the newborn image belonged to his Maternal Grandmother. She was quite the crafty lady. She also made the cream afghan he is laying on. She has passed on, but we wanted to incorporate her memory with her very special Grandson.

One of my favorite things to offer clients is a "now and then" image of baby from the one year session and revisit the newborn session again. We can really see how much growth has happened over that one year. Also, just in case you didn't already know... I'm super sentimental, so this is just my style.

Story's cake smash was simple, organic, and natural. He had a naked cake and we dressed it up with some non-toxic leafs (very important to think about preventing the use of toxic plants). Only 50% of babies actually like their cake... it's a new texture and taste to them. But, Story liked it!

Pierce's One Year Airplane Birthday Session by Debby Ditta Photography of Tomball, Texas

What a special day this was for all of us at Pierce's session. A lightening / thunderstorm was glooming over us and we had to push the session time back. We made special arrangements for this airport location (had to have security with us, etc.) and we were limited on time. The clouds broke away and the rain stopped! All was good

It was like a dream.

Pierce is enrolled in the One Year Plan, The Baby Bee Package. So, he's been photographed four times with me over his first year. For every one of his sessions, we have photographed him with his Restoration Hardware airplane toy. It really shows how much he has grown over the year.

We went to our local airport for this session. I'm not sure if I can pull stings to make another airport session happen because of security purposes (we had security with us). But it was an amazing experience!

Lace, fresh flowers, teepee, piggie tails, oh my... the makings of a bohemian cake smash session. I met Aviana as a newborn baby. She has always been a dark haired beauty. We even dressed her in lace at the newborn session. For her cake (isn't it beautiful?)... her Daddy made it! We added the freshly cut flowers on top to complement the theme (non toxic flowers only) .

For the one year session, I always recommend to photograph the immediate family as a small part of the session. It marks an important time in baby's life and she will want to remember how her family looked when she was little. I also plan ahead of time with the parents (Mom mostly... it's a girl thing I guess) to hear about their ideas and plans for the birthday party. Parents are responsible for bringing the cake and decorations. I have a few cake stands and props to bring along, but props are mainly the job of the parents to bring. Her Mother brought along this teepee and a bouquet of flowers. I'm not a florist... but I simply tied the flowers to the teepee and think it looks pretty cute.

A question frequently asked is about clean up... after all the fun of the cake smash, cake is messy and I do stay to help clean up. I never leave a location without cleaning... that's just not cool to leave a mess. I also will not photograph something like glitter out on a location. There's no way successfully to clean confetti or glitter and I would never want to compromise the professional relationship I have with my private property locations.
