Grayson is here! Newborn Session by Houston area Baby Specialist Debby Ditta Photography

Would you believe that little guy with all that hair is a newborn baby at less than 14 days old?  He looks like a little man with all that hair.  His name is Grayson, I love him and he is perfect!   I love him because he is my great-nephew.

Daddy is a Police Officer and I encourage all Military, Police, and Fire (all first responders)  to wear the uniform for a small part of the session.  It's an honor to have Servers in the studio, thank you for what you do for us!

Grayson was born about a month early, but his estimated due date was July 4th.  We incorporated the American flag to celebrate his season.  By the way, this is not a real American flag.  It is a scarf with stars and stripes, but very different from a real flag.  I wouldn't put a real flag on the floor.

Every face is my favorite face.  For every newborn session, I include macro images.  These are close-ups of baby's face, lips, ear, toes, hand, etc.  I have a special lens that allows focus at close distances.  For instance, my lens is about an inch or so away from his sweet little face in some of these images.  I can almost smell his baby breath.

Black and White or color... I cannot decide.

Now that baby Grayson is here, pregnancy is only a memory in photographs.

Twins Harper and Sawyer Newborn Session by Baby Photographer Debby Ditta of Tomball, TX

Two twin little girls that look so completely different, Harper and Sawyer.  Before Christmas, their Daddy contacted me about surprising his wife with a Gift Certificate.  So, technically... I've been excited about this session for 4 months... just waiting on these twin girls to arrive.  They are each so unique and beautiful.  One looks just like Mommy and the other looks just like her Daddy.

This smoky pink color backdrop looks so beautiful with the girls.

This pose is called the "potato sack" pose.  You can't see it, but I have an assistant on each side of the girls with their hands holding them upright under the layer of fur.  They are getting hugged by my assistants.

These girls were most content when touching eachother.  They look so womb-like.  It's hard to imagine what they must have looked like a few weeks ago in their mommy's tummy.

Sawyer on the top image and Harper on the bottom.

Behind the scenes of my assistants soothing the girls before their bowl shot.  It took a few minutes of comfort before the girls were ready.  Behind every image is a safety assistant caring and watching over the baby during their pose.  Each of my assistants LOVE babies.  They each have four babies of their own and enjoy spending time with my littlest clients.

Each baby received macro images in their gallery (close-ups) of their tiny newborn features.   Top collage is Sawyer and bottom is Harper.

I typically photograph 2-3 sets of twins a year.  Even for a singleton baby, I plan ahead the flow of the session before parents even arrive.  I'll pick out the props that will fit the size of the baby, colors of backdrops and wraps that are based on the colors of clients' home and nursery, and have everything laid out ready for parents to see before the session.  With twins, I prepare a plan but realize that my ideas can be modified based on feedings, the mood of the baby etc.  These girls were very content and needed no modifications from the original plan.  We finished the session within 4 hours like a usual singleton newborn session.  Then my assistants and I enjoyed some Torchy's Tacos for lunch afterwards.

Katelyn's Newborn Session by Photographer Debby Ditta of Tomball, Texas

My clients are returning for a newborn session with their third little girl.  Katelyn was welcomed with loving arms by her family.  It seems like I was just photographing big sister Maggie for her newborn session, and I may add... they look so much alike, it was like photographing the same baby all over again.

I have three babies of my own... now they are 16, 13, and 7 years old.  I remember each time a new baby was born, it was like my heart grew bigger with love for each new baby.  It was like I just had my first baby all over again. So, I can imagine how my clients feel bringing in their second...third...fourth...babies.  It's the same love they had for the first every time.

Posing for the newborn with parents is maybe my favorite part of the session.  Sometimes I see new Mommies become overwhelmed with feelings and happy cry.  I'm right there happy crying with them... Pregnancy is long and a hard road sometimes.  I remember thinking it would last forever and then all of the sudden I was holding my new baby.  The newborn session is emotional at times because baby will never be that little ever again.  My own baby is learning how to drive these days... he was once a little 6 pound baby and now he's driving.

Katelyn was the little piece of the puzzle that makes their family complete.

When planning the newborn session ahead of time, I really have no idea how older siblings are going to act for the big sibling and baby part of the session.  There are some exceptions like these sisters.  I knew for sure that they would be so cooperative and gentle with the new baby.  We achieved some family heirloom pictures for their family with these sibling images.

Katelyn's Mommy just told me to do whatever I want, she trusts me with artistry of the session... that's like music to my ears.  I feel my most creative when I hear that... so I came up with this little set up of the garden bed and succulents.  There's a little behind the scenes image at the end of the blog post of what it looks like when capturing this image.

She has such pretty baby features and detailed close ups... those baby feet with chubby toes and little baby fingers...  Her button nose, baby curl, sweet profile are each a piece of art in itself.

You may recognize my clients from a recent blog post featuring their maternity session.  Here is the link to see what they looked like before Katelyn arrived:

Barrett's 4 Month Old Milestone Session by Debby Ditta Photography of Tomball - Houston Texas

It was only four months ago that baby Barrett was here for his newborn session.  Not much has changed for ME physically (maybe a few holiday pounds unfortunately), but so much has changed for Barrett.  Not only has he doubled in size, he's so alert and acting like a 4 month old.  He is a champion of tummy time, chews on his hands, and can be so smiley (when he's got a full tummy).  Below is a few memories from the newborn session and the comparison of how big boy he is now.

Did I call your 4 month old baby moody?  Yes, I did.... The four month old session is the fastest of all the sessions at usually 20-30 minutes.  I schedule an hour just in case baby needs a milk or Mommy break.  In the top image of Barrett on the white backdrop, he's DONE.  He wants nothing to do with me and my itsy bitsy spider song anymore.  He needs his Mommy and some milk.  We took about a 15 minute milk break and it was like he was a new man.  That's all he needed to be a happy baby again.  The four month baby can go through all the emotions during their session and usually do.  I have to act fast.

The many moods of the four month old baby.

I just happened to be at the right place and right time to catch baby digging for gold.  Mommy said she will show this one on display at his wedding one day.

The typical 4 month session begins with Mommy, Daddy, and baby once more with the studio backdrop.  After about 5 minutes of family in the session, we photograph baby one more time on the beanbag (baby on the white backdrop).  Since baby will be rolling and crawling soon, it's the last time to be on the beanbag.

I have several padded floordrops to choose from that replica hardwoods.  I photograph whatever stage baby is in developmentally.  Some babies at the 4 month session cannot hold up their head when on their tummy, some babies are rolling all over, it all depends on the baby.  Since most babies are not sitting independently at the 4 month session ( I've only seen one baby that could sit at this session in the last 15 years), I mostly photograph from an angle above and avoid props.  This session is all about simplicity (remember the moody baby phase I was telling you about).
